Ta’ Gingel is an agriturismo, delivering a unique farm stay experience, close to it Maltese roots. A restaurant, couple of room and an artisan shop/butcher are set on a working farm, family run and on a mission to give locals and foreigners visits which are an adventure like no other on the island. Sustainability and authenticity are our main principles, and we extend them throughout our operation.

We are looking to provide a lovely opportunity to work close to nature and animals on a working farm, making high quality and genuine food with home grown and sustainably sourced ingredients, in a positive and fun environment.

We are looking for a reliable and creative sous chef to join our team; who is passionate for the industry, quick thinking, dedicated and loyal. A knowledge in local cuisine and ingredients will be considered an asset. You must also have your own means of transport, be fluent in English and/or Maltese, possess a valid working permit and have flexible working hours. You will be required to work mainly morning and afternoon shifts and the occasionally dinner shift.

You will report directly to the Head Chef and the role is made up of many varying responsibilities including:

  • Directing the food preparation process and delegating tasks
  • Cooking and preparing high quality dishes
  • Assisting the Head Chef to create menu items, recipes and develop dishes
  • Supervising, motivating and working closely with other kitchen staff
  • Being responsible for health and safety
  • Being responsible for food hygiene practices
  • Ensuring food quality and excellent standards are maintained for all dishes created
  • Assisting with determining food inventory needs, stocking and ordering

Alongside more general skills, you must possess:

  • Good knowledge of working all sections
  • Ability to produce good quality food
  • Good oral communication
  • Team management skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Good level of numeracy
  • Enthusiasm to develop your own skills and knowledge plus those around you
  • Adaptability to change and willingness to embrace new ideas and processes
  • Ability to work unsupervised and deliver quality work
  • Positive and approachable manner
  • Team player qualities
  • Loyalty and dedication
