Job Description

OPPORTUNITY FOR ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT! Urgently seeking an Assistant Accountant to join a team of professionals within a newly-established live casino company in Malta.

General Purpose: The selected candidate is expected to perform a range of general clerical, accounting and bookkeeping support functions.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities: • general accounts receivable functions, such as preparing journal entries, performing bank account and other reconciliations • reconciling card statements, processing employee expense forms, if applicable • tracking petty cash • assisting with financial and annual tax audits • preparing statutory accounts and VAT returns to ensure all the regulatory requirements are adhered to

General accounts payable functions: •Processes invoices and records transactions • Prepares payment runs and establishes appropriate authorization procedures

General Payroll functions: • Takes on a monthly responsibility for payroll using an HR/accounting software • Posts relative payroll transactions • Submits and records tax and NI payments • Maintains employee records and respective filing

General support functions:  • Updates, verifies and maintains accounting journals and ledgers and other financial records  • Assists in month-end reporting procedures  • Takes on analyzing financial data and reports on any discrepancies • Suggests improvements to office procedures to ensure efficiency and comment on accounting controls

Requirements:

• Minimum of A level in Accounts or part qualified ACCA accountant

• Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role

• Conversant with MS Office, especially Excel

• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting and bookkeeping principles and procedures

• Experience with HR/Accounting payroll system (ideally, Shireburn software)

• Experience in a gaming setup is an advantage
