Legal Advisor Mobile Banking

Job Description


An excellent opportunity for a Legal Advisor to join the Mobile Banking Team of an established client of ours. The Legal Advisor will be reporting to the Head of Legal and will have the opportunity to handle exciting and challenging legal matters.

Some of the duties include:

  • Providing legal advice and support relating to matters such as service provider agreements, SLAs, the development of template contracts, and other general commercial matters.
  • Providing legal advice and review on new products, functionalities, launch of services in new countries, while working in cooperation with multiple stakeholders;
  • Being aware of and advise on legal and regulatory changes, monitoring developments in regulatory and supervisory requirements, both at a national and supra-national level.
  • Providing legal support and assistance to the Mobile Bank Team to ensure that the services offered are flawless from a legal and compliance perspective
  • Drafting, reviewing, negotiating and advise on a wide range of contracts and legal issues relating to the matters above.
  • Identifying competition, data protection and other regulatory issues relating to financial services.
  • Identifying the need for external legal advice and engage appropriate outside counsel on a range of legal issues across Europe.
  • Working with other departments to ensure contracts and advice accurately reflect business needs and policies.
  • Responsible for management of day-to-day legal queries and business deals and customer’s legal queries and complaints, taking the lead on relevant legal activities.
  • Managing, developing and maintain relationships to facilitate the effective delivery of legal advice and assistance.
  • Providing training on law, processes and policies


  • Candidates must be skilled at identifying issues early and then creatively and proactively solving them.
  • The ideal candidate must be a team player who can multi-task, work well under pressure and handle fluid and at times conflicting priorities and goals.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, along with a proven ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Fluent in English. Fluency in an additional language would be considered an asset
  • Candidates must hold a Law Degree

  • This position call for a Qualified lawyer with previous experience in payments, or financial services (ideally 3+ years PQE). We will consider candidates who have qualified in other EU jurisdictions.
  • In house legal experience is also required
  • Good working knowledge of AML/CFT requirements
  • Knowledge of the payments industry (and applicable regulation) would be considered an asset
  • Previous experience of cross-border and multi-jurisdictional operations, contracts and regulatory requirements would be considered an asset
