Chief Financial Controller

Job Description

A well-positioned law firm, forming part of a highly respected Corporate and Fiduciary Services is currently looking to recruit a Chief Financial Controller.  They are primarily active in the financial services sector, legal services, property development, and management.  Within the financial services sector, the group of companies has an active accountancy practice and tax practice.

Key Responsibilities:


The CFO will be working alongside the management team of the group of companies in a bid to enhance the group’s strategies, business development, and client relationships.  The successful candidate will be tasked with managing a type of accounts professionals as well as producing, enhancing and implementing all internal and external policies


Oversee the smooth and efficient running of the Finance department.

Ensure compliance with statutory authority and audit requirements.

Maintain integrity of accounting system (software), ensuring it remains effective and operational at all times

Ensure all taxation and legislative requirements are complied with at all times and conduct balance sheet reconciliation for review by Senior Management whenever required

Analyse business performance/results, providing feedback to the Board of Directors

Draft business forecasts, cash flows, etc.

Track and monitor revenue/expenditure for accuracy

Assist with drafting of business plans (whether project specific or on a group level) and negotiating and/or renegotiating financing options with financial institutions

Ensure monthly accruals are adjusted to meet the demands of the business.

Delegate tasks to direct reports in line with skill, knowledge, and ability and where necessary identify skill gaps and training requirements.

Reviewing and presenting Management Accounts

Depending on the demands of the group of companies, the successful candidate will also be required to dedicate time to assisting senior management with business development and handling/assisting with more

Requirements technical client requests.




A degree in accountancy or an equivalent professional qualification like MIA or ACCA

Minimum of 9-10 years’experience, some of which would have been spent with a top four audit firm

Experience in an advisory (if recent experience is with an audit firm) or in a similar role; whilst experience in tax advisory will be considered as highly advantageous

Excellent communication and people skills

Strategic and creative thinker

High level of integrity and dependability

Strong analytical and problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.

Expertise in Microsoft Office products

Knowledgeable about online marketing and social media tools.
